#DIGC102 Week 6 Ethics Task
The industry that I am interested in working in is motoring journalism which would fall under print journalism in terms of media ethics. Print journalism is regulated by the Australian Press Council which is a self-regulatory body that aims to ‘help preserve the traditional freedom of the press within Australia and ensure that the free press acts responsibly and ethically.’
The Australian Press Council’s Statement of Principles can be found here.
An example of some of the principles are:
- ‘Where it is established that a serious inaccuracy has been published, a publication should promptly correct the error, giving the correction due prominence.’
- ‘Information obtained by dishonest or unfair means, or the publication of which would involve a breach of confidence, should not be published unless there is an over-riding public interest.’
