For my web project I have created a virtual band using MySpace in which the music is recorded by me and uploaded under the moniker ‘Southern Cross Tattoo’. ‘Southern Cross Tattoo’ is a heavy metal/electronic group that is comprised of fictional members with a fictional back story that parodies heavy metal clichés, similar to Spinal Tap. Originally I signed up for a standard MySpace account but realised that an artist account would be better for the band to reach its full potential. The standard account located at http://www.myspace.com/southerncrosstattoo666 is now used as a profile for me outlining why and how I have created ‘Southern Cross Tattoo’, while the artist page located at http://www.myspace.com/southerncrosstattoo is the bands profile page that does not acknowledge me as if the band were real.
